SWAT aids in standoff

Michael Ray Ingram, 31, of San Antonio was arrested on Saturday afternoon after a short standoff with Comal County Sheriff's Officers and SWAT team members.

Around 12:09 p.m. the Comal County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked at a residence in the 1800 block of Whispering Water, Cypress Cove subdivision.

An officer initially arriving on-scene ran the license plate of the vehicle at the residence. The license plate returned to a Jeep, which had been reported stolen from San Antonio on Jan. 20.

An additional officer arrived and tried to make contact at the residence. Officers had been in touch with the homeowner, who indicated the residence should be empty. Music and noise could be heard from inside the home. Officers attempted to establish communication with anyone inside, but were unsuccessful.

Comal County hostage negotiators and SWAT team were called to the scene. Since dialogue could not be established, SWAT officers made entry into the residence around 2:45 p.m.

Officers located Ingram in the back bedroom, covered with sheets and blankets. He was taken into custody without incident or injury and transported to the Comal County jail where he was charged with burglary of a habitation and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
