Group begins CROPwalk '05 plans Arrangement crews and recruiters have begun work for the 2005 CROPwalk to be held Saturday, March 12 at Canyon Dam. Registration is at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church hall with singing, area preachers, invocation and starting bell at 9:30 a.m. Previous Church World Service/CROPwalks have raised approximately $39,000, over one-fourth of which stayed in Canyon Lake for the Community Resource and Recreation Center and Smithson Valley food banks, and 2002 Flood REBOUNDS. The state, national and world's three-fifth's share of this year's walk will join CWS/CROP dollars and workers who have been helping recovery from last month's tsunami. CWS/Communities Reaching Out To People was on-site in Indonesia and in Sri Lanka within the first 24 hours with family kits for food and shelter. That was helped made possible through the local CROPwalk helping this area's global neighbors. The world's proceeds from this upcoming CROPwalk will help continue the work. For details and a walker packet, contact your church or organization recruiter, or go to the CRRC administration building or recreation center.
