Texas Tech University education degree programs available in the Hill Country
The Texas Tech University (TTU) College of Education offers a variety of graduate degree programs in the Texas Hill Country. The newest program, post baccalaureate secondary teaching certification will be available beginning June 1.
Students can attend classes at any of the recognized higher education teaching sites, TTU at Fredericksburg or TTU at Highland Lakes at Marble Falls or the TTU Center at Junction. Courses are designed for working professionals with evening and weekend classes. TTU professors rotate among the sites with students in all three locations.
Most education programs are cohort based, meaning a group of students go through the program together.
The post baccalaureate secondary teaching certification program is comprised of 15 credit hours during the summer and fall with student teaching in the spring. Students should have completed an undergraduate degree and their teaching content area requirements.
Other graduate level degree programs and certifications are available. The Master of Education in Educational Leadership (M.Ed.) and Principal Certification preparation is a mid-management degree for certified teachers. Cohort 4 will begin June 1.
The Superintendent Certification program prepares students to take the state-mandated TExES test. The Master Reading Teacher Certification preparation and the Master of Education in Language Literacy Education are also available.
The College of Education offers the Master of Education in Special Education and several supplemental certification programs and the Master of Education in Instructional Technology through distance learning
The Master of Art Education is offered by the School of Art and available at TTU Center at Junction.
Potential students must apply to TTU as well as to the College of Education for the specific program. The application deadline is April 15 for most of the programs.
