From the Press Box

Canyon boys' basketball coach Kenny Rotzler had a splendid season, taking the Cougars to an all-time high in wins and also in building a team that hasn't happened in the last several years.

Rotzler knew he had a good team, but at the same time he also knew that going up against a highly-rated team like Del Valle wouldn't be easy, especially with their height and speed. Overall, Rotzler had nothing but praise for his squad following the loss.

"I thought we did a really good job and controlled the tempo like we talked about...I'm proud of my kids and I thought they represented Canyon High School and our community very well," Rotzler said.

The last two ballgames for the Smithson Valley Ranger boys' soccer team have been great. The Rangers have finally started to reach the top of the mountain. Coach Russ Girard hopes this winning routine will continue.

"We finally score nine goals against Roosevelt, which no doubt may have been our best output in months," Girard said.

Meanwhile, Ranger girls' soccer coach Jason Adkins feels that his team is finally whipping into a winning mode.

"We are starting to play more and more like a team with many more players getting into the scoring act," Adkins said.
