Record turn-out expected for Nov. 2 general election

If early voting figures are any indication, the 2004 general election will be a record for Comal County voter participation.

Comal County Clerk Joy Streeter was pleasantly surprised that more than 10,000 registered voters cast their ballots in the first week of early voting. "Some 1445 voted in the first day alone," she stated.

Lines were long on Monday, October 25, at Sattler's CRRC Center and total votes cast there were still being tabulated at press time.

Clearly, the proposition to freeze taxes for seniors continues to be a big draw as has the tightly-contested national race for President and Vice President.

Early voters at Comal County offices in New Braunfels were offered the choice of voting by paper ballot or new touch screen computers. Generally, those who used the new system spoke favorably of it. A new "Where Do I Vote?" website also got high marks.
