Guadalupe River claims another drowning victim

The Comal County Sheriff's office reported an apparent drowning in the Guadalupe River on Friday, October 22.

The 20-year-old man was swimming near the Guadalupe River Campground at the river's second crossing.

About 3:40 p.m., campground employees waved down a sheriff's deputy on patrol. A group of swimmers were observed attempting to revive the man with pulmonary resuscitation. Canyon Lake Fire/EMS was called and continued resuscitation enroute to McKenna Hospital in New Braunfels. The victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

At presstime, members of the Sheriff's department were attempting to locate family members of the man, who observers could not identify.
