Prime outlets unveils renovation and expansion

SAN MARCOS, TX, Prime Retail, Inc., has announced that Neiman Marcus, the luxury fashion specialty retailer, will anchor the new expansion of Prime Outlets-San Marcos with a new Last Call clearance center.

Prime Retail is planning an extensive renovation of the existing center along with a 160,000-square-foot expansion with a Grand Opening scheduled for Fall 2005. The Last Call store will occupy 28,000 square feet and is also scheduled to open in Fall 2005.

"We are very pleased to become an integral part of the new expansion of the very successful Prime Outlets in San Marcos, Texas. Because the center is situated in such an excellent geographic location, a Neiman Marcus Last Call is a natural addition, serving customers from both the residential and tourist markets," says Wayne Hussey, senior vice president of properties and new store development for Neiman Marcus.

"This exciting announcement reflects Prime Retail's commitment to upgrading the quality of the shopping experience at San Marcos for the benefit of both our shoppers and retailers. There is a wait list for space at San Marcos as we continue to focus on attracting and retaining the best brand names in the retail industry," said Bob Brvenik, president of Prime Retail. "With the addition of Neiman Marcus Last Call, we are well on our way to bringing a whole new caliber of luxury brand merchandise to one of the nation's best outlet shopping destinations. We are committed to ensuring that Prime Outlets offers local shoppers and tourists the choices, values, amenities, and services they demand and which far exceed other retail centers."

In keeping with the outlet's Mediterranean style, this $20 million renovation and new construction phase will add sophisticated, elegant architectural and landscaping elements including grand piazzas with water features and fountains-enhancing the shopping experience and encouraging consumers to enjoy more time at the center. Furthermore, sit-down, high-quality restaurants and cafes will open after the expansion and parking areas will be expanded and improved.

"For the past 15 years, Prime Outlets has invested in San Marcos, initiating the greatest outlet shopping in the Southwest," said San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz. "The outlet mall complex has become the third most popular tourist attraction in the state-and has had an enormous economic benefit to our community and Central Texas. Our City Council is pleased to continue our important partnership as a sound business decision. We are happy to welcome Nieman Marcus Last Call as well as the dramatic expansion and renovation taking place at Prime Outlets-San Marcos."

Over 6 million tourists visit and shop at more than 115 quality stores at Prime Outlets-San Marcos, making the shopping mecca the third most popular tourist destination in the entire state of Texas, just behind San Antonioís Riverwalk and The Alamo.

The addition of the Neiman Marcus Last Call Clearance Center will further enhance the retail experience at Prime Outlets at San Marcos, one of the most successful outlet centers in the U.S. Other retailers that have recently opened include Aeropostale, St. John, Tahari, and Oakley, as well as expansions by Polo Ralph Lauren and Brooks Brothers.
