Drowning victim identified The unidentified victim of the drowning incident on the Guadalupe River reported in last week's Canyon Lake times Guardian has now been identified. The victim is Hugo Isaac Grenaldo Villa, 20, a Mexican citizen, living in Houston, TX. An autopsy at the Travis Co. Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the cause of death as accidental drowning. As reported, Comal County Sheriff's Deputies, patrolling in the 6300 block of River Rd, were flagged down by River Road Campground employees, for a drowning. This location is just down river from the second crossing. They were directed to a group of people across the river, who were performing CPR on the victim, a male said to be approximately 20 years of age. The incident occurred just minutes earlier. The victim was retrieved by raft to the side where first responders could deliver medical assistance. EMS transported the victim to Mc Kenna Memorial Hospital, in New Braunfels, where he was pronounced deceased from apparent drowning. Witnesses state that the victim was swimming and went under for at least several minutes, before being rescued by bystanders. No one at the site had any information as to the full identity of the victim, but contact with the family over the weekend and notification to the Mexican Consulate has been completed. | ||||||||||||||||
