Pilot Club presents annual musical and food event Nov. 9

The Pilot Club of Canyon Lake will present its annual Wine(less) Cheese event on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 2pm at GVTC Auditorium. The Auditorium is located at 36101 FM 3159 near Smithson Valley High School.

Considered by many to be the fun event of the year at Canyon Lake, the musical comedy, titled "A Trilogy of Trials and Tribulations", will spoof TV personalities.

Written by Polly Saunders, the play features words of wisdom from Dr. Choyce Druthers, Dr.Shill, and Judge Snooty as they and other cast members weave many old favorite songs among their hilarious dialogue. Performers include talented members of the Pilot Club,their husbands and other local volunteers. Back by popular demand, the Four Singing Ministers will appear.

They are Rev. Doug Dalglish, Rev. Jim Roberts, Rev. Jerry Sneary, and Pastor Alan Kethan. Tickets for the musical comedy and smorgasbord of food and beverages can be purchased at Canyon Lake Chamber, Tye Preston Memorial Library, China 'n Things in New Braunfels or any Pilot member.

Tickets will be sold at the door if space remains. Proceeds benefit the Children's Summer Reading Program at Tye Preston Memorial Library.

The Pilot Club is also sponsoring a grocery raffle to benefit other Pilot Club programs. Tickets can be purchased on the weekends at the Super S stores in Startzville and Sattler and at the Wine(less) Cheese event on November 9. The first prize is $200 in groceries and second prize is $100 in groceries from Super S.

The Pilot Club of Canyon Lake, associated with Pilot Club International, is a community service organization locally founded in 1970. Primarily focusing on brain safety awareness and treatment of brain disorders, some of the local Pilot Club activities include a full scholarship to Higher Ground Retreat,a camp for young adults with brain-related injuries; The BrainMinders Puppet Program to promote safety and Bicycle Safety Rodeos at local schools, the Summer Reading Program at the library, a scholarship for a Smithson Valley senior, and donations to Hope Hospice, and Threads of Love, a national progam to promote positive outcomes for premature babies.
