December is a busy time for Tye Preston Memorial Library
patrons and staff

- Annual Christmas P.J. party with Tim Tingle and Doc Moore, Thursday,
December 9, at 6 p.m. at the library meeting room. Kids, put on your jammies
and get your favorite blanket or teddy and gather up the family and come
the library for hot cocoa, great stories and lotsa fun.
Tye Preston Memorial Library has been nominated for the "Best
Small or Rural Library in America" Award. This is an award presented
annually by the Library Journal to a library best meeting the award criteria
and serving an area having a population of 25,000 or less. The award is
cosponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
- Lunch and Learn with Carol Wilhelm Wednesday Dec. 15 in the library
meeting room noon to 1 p.m. Carol is a Tye Preston Memorial Library
Volunteer, president of the Friends of Tye Preston Library and an accomplished
artist and for this Lunch and Learn she will present a fun program of cookie
decorating. Bring your lunch and munch while you learn. Coffee and tea
provided.
Volunteer of the Month. Congratulations to Tye Preston Memorial Library's
Volunteer for the Month of December Sheri Costello. "Sheri faithfully
works Thursday nights and she is one of the most diligent and helpful volunteers
we have," says library director Ronnie Nagy.
- Coffee with the Author, Saturday, Dec. 4, at the library meeting room.
This month featuring Joan Hall and Stacey Hasbrook, authors of "Grand
Old Texas Theaters." This is a wonderful book about vintage
Texas theaters. Refreshments will be provided by Books and Java and by
Mrs. Bush's Pie Company.
Friends of Tye Preston Memorial Library meet in the library meeting
room at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22.
- Storytime for preschoolers every Wednesday, at 10 a. m. with Tiffany
Cargile. Tiffany makes a story come alive.

Holiday hours. The library will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Saturday,
Dec. 25. We will close 2 p. m. Friday, Dec. 31 and we will be closed all
day Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005.
