Bateman has change of heart

Chamber director resumes post

by Kevin Force, Editor

Jaynellen Bateman, who resigned her position as the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce's executive director just two weeks ago, rescinded her resignation this week and will remain with the chamber.

Since tendering her resignation on Jan. 31, Bateman admitted she had a change of heart and was touched by the reaction of those associated with the chamber to her announcement.

"I was overwhelmed by the support of people who did not want me to leave," Bateman said. "My immediate goal is to get out into the community and meet with members for their ideas and direction."

Bateman indicated to board members that she had changed her mind and wished to stay, and the board voted in a special meeting on Thursday, Feb. 9, not to accept the resignation. Bateman will simply remain in the job.

"Having known Jaynellen for a long time, I'm glad she has reconsidered her resignation," said chamber president Dwain Blaschke. "We have much work to do, and I'm happy she will be at the helm."

Bateman has been the chamber's executive director since April of 2005.
