Before long, the new log home being erected on the corner of River Road and Sattler Road might be seen all over town.

The log home is the style and model of Whisper Creek Log Homes, the newest business to expand to the Hill Country, and could be finished as soon as a week if the rain holds off.

Work began on assembling the model on Monday. Once it is finished, it will become the new office for Sidney Sparkman. Sparkman, and his wife Alysha Nichols-Sparkman, are the authorized dealers in the area for the Whisper Creek Log Homes, and will begin marketing and selling the homes once the office is completed.

"It will take us a little longer to finish with all the rain in the forecast," Sparkman said. "Once the construction is complete, we'll get it set up, and hopefully be selling these homes by the end of May."

Sparkman is a landscaper by trade, and Alysha is a real estate agent in Canyon Lake. They have owned the small plot of land on which the home is being erected for about three years, and finally they decided the time was right to move on this project.

Ultimately, the couple plans to add landscaping service and perhaps other opportunities to the project. But to begin, they will simply focus on developing their name and marketing their product throughout the Hill Country.

Whisper Creek, which is headquartered in Sandy, Utah, is also eager to get a foothold in the Hill Country market.

"It's time to get on board and start selling some homes," Sparkman said.
