SVHS junior faces arson charge

by Crystal Gottfried

A sixteen-year-old Smithson Valley High School junior turned himself in to authorities last Wednesday to face an arson charge in connection with a fire that destroyed a car parked at the school.

Comal County Deputy Fire Marshal Wayne Ellington said that the youth had placed a smoke bomb inside a friend’s car as a prank.

The boy was taken to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center where he was to have a hearing on Sept. 1.
