Crime Stoppers 9th Annual Motorcycle Fun Run

Staff Writer

Our local New Braunfels and Comal County Crime Stoppers is conducting its annual Motorcycle Fun Run, scheduled for Saturday, May 5th with a rain out date scheduled for May 12th. The Fun Run, formally known as the "Poker Run" is a popular local event for motorcyclists and is the primary funding for the administrative needs of our local Crime Stopper Program. The rally will start at 9:00 A.M. from the New Braunfels Police Department parking lot, 1488 N. Seguin Street. Organizers would like all hopeful riders in the New Braunfels and Comal County area to join them in this years Fun Run.

This year, the rally sponsors hope to see a 150 cyclists participate in the rally. Participants can register early or the day of the event; early registration must be in by May 1st. Participants can also register after this date and on the day of the event at 8:00 A.M. in the New Braunfels Police Departments parking lot. Early registration fees are $25.00 per rider and $30.00 per rider after May 1st, passengers are $5.00. The registration fee covers the BBQ dinner with all the trimming's at the end of the tour, tour pin, and special door prize drawings donated by local businesses. The route for the 2007 run will take riders through familiar and unfamiliar roads through our Texas hill country. This year the event will finish at the River Road Ice House at the end of River Road, just outside New Braunfels.

Again this rally is to help fund our local Crime Stoppers program. Its a prime opportunity to donate to our community, enjoy our scenic hill country, and meet new people. Crime Stoppers assists local law enforcement by publishing crimes of the week, sponsoring the "Quick Two Hundred" program paying $200 for tips on individuals with outstanding felony warrants, and offers cash rewards up to a $1000 for tips leading to the arrest and indictment of individuals responsible for the commission of felony offenses. Both the cash reward and quick two hundred programs are anonymous programs protecting the identity of the reporting citizen.

Organizers hope all that rode last year will join them again this year and bring a friend for a great ride in the Texas hill country! For more information call Crime Stoppers coordinators Libby Rinehart at (830) 608-2185 or Tim Kolbe at (830) 620-3400.
